CANADA’S GREATEST PETS CONTEST 2019 Official Rules
- HOW TO ENTER
1.1 Visit Reader’s Digest Association (Canada) ULC (RD) web site located at www.rd.ca and follow the online instructions to register to enter this contest. The contest will close on April 28, 2019 at 23:59:59 (EDT).
1.2 Only one (1) entry per person will be accepted for the duration of this contest.
1.3 No purchase is necessary to enter and to win.
- ELIGIBILITY
2.1 This contest is open to Canadian residents who, at the time of entry, have reached the age of majority according to the law of the province or territory in which they reside. Employees of RD, their respective parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, partners, sponsors and co-sponsors, dealers, advertising and promotion agencies and their immediate families (parents, children, siblings, spouse) or members of the same household (whether related or not) of such employees/officers/directors are not eligible to enter.
2.2 This contest is void outside of Canada.
- ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
3.1 Participants must register by giving their contact information and by submitting one (1) photo of their pet along with a brief description of what makes their pet the greatest (50 to 300 words or less). Photo must be submitted electronically, and must have a resolution of 300 dpi at a minimum size of 3 x 5 inches for a maximum file size of 2MB. Photos that do not meet these resolution requirements may not be entered in the contest.
3.2 Submissions should not include copyright-protected material unless given permission from the copyright holder. Failure to comply will result in disqualification from the contest.
3.3 Photo and description must be of the entrant’s pet in order to be eligible to participate.
- PRIZES AND AWARDING
Judging will be taking place between April 29, 2019 and May 3, 2019. A panel of judges will be selecting one (1) winning entry based on the most original and/or most endearing photos. The decision of the judges will be final and binding in all respects. On May 3. 2019 at 3pm, at RD’s office in Montreal, one (1) winner will be selected and awarded a $500.00 cheque.
The prize is non-transferable, and must be accepted as awarded. The prize is guaranteed to be awarded. By entering the contest, entrants agree to abide by these rules, and the decisions of RD are final on all matters regarding this contest. The qualifying winner will be notified by email, shortly after the contest close date. The winner must sign a claim form in order to claim his/her prize. The winner will receive his/her prize approximately 30 days from the date the claim form is received at RD. If the prize is unclaimed, RD reserves the right to award to the next eligible contestant or to a recognized Canadian charity organization.
- CONDITIONS
By entering, the entrants warrant and represent the following with respect to submission: (a) entrant is the sole and exclusive owner of the submission; (b) the submission is entrant’s own creation and is 100% original; (c) the submission will not infringe on any rights of any third parties; and (d) any third parties appearing in the submission have given the entrant appropriate consent to be photographed and used as permitted herein.
By participating, entrants agree to release, discharge and hold harmless RD, and its respective affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising agencies, sponsors and co-sponsors, agents and their employees, officers, directors, and representatives from any claims, losses, and damages arising out of their participation in this contest or any contest related activities and the acceptance and use, misuse, or possession of any prize awarded hereunder.
RD, its directors and employees as well as any other company involved in the administration of this contest, as well as their immediate family and people with who they are domiciled, are not responsible for lost, late, invalid, or misdirected entries, which will be disqualified. Proof of submission will not be deemed to be proof of receipt.
All entries become the sole property of RD and will not be acknowledged or returned. In the event an insufficient number of entries are received, RD, with the authorization of the Régie des alcools des courses et des jeux, reserves the right to cancel the contest and shall be under no obligation to award the prize. Entries not satisfying these Official Rules will be automatically disqualified. All entrants must have a valid email address. In case of dispute as to identity of entrant, entry will be declared made by the authorized account holder of the email address submitted at time of entry. ‘Authorized Account Holder’ is defined as the natural person who is assigned an email address by an Internal access provider, online service provider, or other organization (e.g., business, educational, institution, etc.) responsible for assigning email addresses or the domain associated with the submitted email address.
RD reserves the right to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the prize draw or website. RD may prohibit an entrant from participating in the prize draw or winning a prize if it determines that said entrant is attempting to undermine the legitimate operation of the prize draw by cheating, hacking, deception, or other unfair playing practices (including the use of automated quick entry programs) or intending to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other entrants or RD employees.
By submitting an entry, the entrant confirms having cleared all usage rights associated with submission and agrees to license submission to RD for use in their promotions, magazines and websites.
Submissions may be cut, reformatted, rearranged, combined with other materials and/or otherwise modified. Participation in the contest and acceptance of prize constitute the winner’s permission for RD to use his/her name, photograph, biographical information, and photo and/or any statements made by the winner regarding the contest without notice or additional compensation.
RD reserves the right to refuse submissions deemed inappropriate or offensive in any way.
- RIGHT TO CANCEL OR SUSPEND CONTEST
If for any reason the contest is not capable of running as planned, due to infection by computer virus, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of RD that corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of this contest, RD reserves the right to disqualify any individual(s) who tamper with the entry process, and/or to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend the Contest (with the approval of the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux).
Caution: any attempt by an entrant to deliberately damage any web site or undermine the legitimate operation of the contest may be a violation of criminal and civil laws and should such an attempt be made, RD reserves the right to seek damages from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law.
- LEGAL
This contest complies with all Canadian laws. In Québec, the required duties have been paid. Quebec residents may submit any litigation respecting the conduct or organizing of a publicity contest to the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux du Québec for a ruling. Any litigation respecting the awarding of a prize may be submitted to the Régie only for the purpose of helping the parties reach a settlement.
