Evil Dead
Normally, news of a remake of this classic cabin-in-the-woods spookfest would be cause for concern, but the involvement of original director Sam Raimi inspires confidence. In theatres April 5.

To the Wonder
Formerly reclusive director Terrence Malick returns with his latest just two years after The Tree of Life. In the largely dialogue-free film, Ben Affleck struggles with his deteriorating relationship with a French woman (Olga Kurylenko) and his connection with a childhood sweetheart (Rachel McAdams) from his Oklahoman hometown. In theatres April 12.

Chadwick Boseman stars as Jackie Robinson, the first African-American to smash Major League Baseball’s colour barrier, with Harrison Ford co-starring as the Brooklyn Dodgers GM who brought him on board. In theatres April 12.

Scary Movie 5
Number five in the seemingly unstoppable parody series features Charlie Sheen and Lindsay Lohan. We have no one but ourselves to blame. In theatres April 12.
8. Cruise Control
Oblivion
Prominent Scientologist Tom Cruise stars in this sci-fi epic about a man trying to lead humanity to a new home in the stars. If the Church of Scientology weren’t notoriously litigious, one might consider making some kind of joke about that. In theatres April 19.
9. Storm Troopers
The Indian Ocean tsunami of 2004 gets the Hollywood treatment in this true(ish) story of a family torn apart (but eventually reunited) while vacationing in Thailand. Academy Award nominee Naomi Watts stars as the matriarch in peril. On DVD and Blu-ray April 23.
10. Witch Craft
The Lords of Salem
Heavy metal icon Rob Zombie helms this horror flick about a DJ who accidentally awakens an evil coven masquerading as a hard rock band (obviously). In theatres April 26.
