You’ll like it if you like: Up in the Air
It’s a perfect comedy set-up: a workaholic executive (Kristen Bell) gets dumped at the altar, ends up spending her honeymoon cruise with her estranged father (Kelsey Grammer) and meets a nice guy (Seth Rogen) during her journey. Writer-director Lauren Miller—Rogen’s real-life wife—isn’t interested in breaking the rules, and that’s OK. Like Father is a feel-good movie about appreciating family, and one we could certainly use right now. Netflix Canada, August 3.

As Sully shows, however, that miraculous event is just half the story. Directed by Clint Eastwood and starring Tom Hanks as the unlikely American hero, Sully is a tribute to everyday heroism. She decides the titular group will be the subject of her newest novel, forming a bond with Guernsey’s residents and discovering a new joy for literature in the process. Based on the hugely popular book series by Diana Gabaldon, Outlander tells the story of a 1940s English nurse named Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe) who, after being magically transported back to 1700s Scotland, falls for Highland warrior Jamie Fraser. Part time-travel tale, part period romance and part historical epic (and filled with some truly adult moments), Outlander is a series that refuses to be easily categorized. Netflix Canada, August 10.

Born without legs and moving through several foster homes for most of his childhood, Zion Clark won’t let anything get in the way of achieving his dream: becoming a professional wrestler. The Ohio native (and current Kent State student) has always lived by two words: no excuses.
