Ingredients

680 g / 1 1/2 lb    ground lamb
1    Spanish onion, chopped finely
1    egg
125 ml / 1/2 cup    flat parsley, chopped
10 ml / 2 tsp    fresh oregano, chopped
To taste    salt and freshly ground pepper
4    portobello mushrooms, stems removed
4    hamburger buns, toasted
50 ml / 1/4 cup    mayonnaise
2 cloves    garlic, minced
As required    red onion, sliced thinly

Directions

In a bowl, combine the lamb, chopped onion, egg, parsley, oregano, salt and pepper. Shape into four patties.

In a large skillet, brown the mushrooms well on both sides and reserve. In the same skillet, cook the burgers on both sides. Set aside on a heated plate.

Meanwhile, in a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise and garlic and spread on the toasted buns. Build the burgers using one patty, one mushroom and some sliced red onion for each.
