Bits

Spade bits feature center locating point and two sharp flat cutting edges which work, with a scraping action, to bore holes in wood. Useful for drilling large holes, although they tend to leave splintered exit holes.

Twist bits are made for wood and metal. For wood, use twist bits made of carbon steel; for metal, choose bits made of high-speed steel, andlubricate the drilling surface with machine oil.
