Standard Router

For light tasks, choose a standard7/8 hp model with a 6 mm (1/4 in.) collet. Invest more in router bits than in the router itself to start; buy carbide-tipped bits as they require less sharpening and last longer than high-speed steel bits. Recommended bits: rabbeting, beading, dovetail, chamfer, roundover, ogee, three-wing slotting cutter.
