2. Willemstad, Curaçao – 41% increase in searches
Curaçao is heating things up for the February long week weekend, with searches up 41 per cent year over year. With nonstop flights under 5.5 hours from Toronto, this city is perfect for those looking for a little more than lying on the beach all day (not that there’s anything wrong with that!). Curaçao also has some of the best snorkeling and diving in the Caribbean. Unlike some of the other islands where you may be tempted to just stay on hotel property, Willemstad has a romantic charm that’s worth checking out. Curacao was one of the ABC Caribbean islands (Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao) that was left relatively untouched by the devastating hurricanes at the end of 2017, which could have prompted many travelers to look to the island for winter getaways. It was also the destination chosen for the year’s hottest swimsuit photoshoot which could be driving interest up.
